11 Bodies Found Near Mexico City

MEXICO CITY -- Prosecutors say 11 bodies have been found dumped at two different sites near the outskirts of Mexico City.

Prosecutors in Mexico State say six bodies were found stuffed in plastic bags inside a car and the car's trunk. The car was abandoned in the town of Zinacantepec, east of Mexico City.

Prosecutors said Tuesday that five other bodies were found Monday dumped on a street in Toluca, the capital of Mexico State.

Mexico State surrounds Mexico City.

The state prosecutor's office says it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the killings. The dumping of multiple bodies is a tactic frequently used by Mexico's violent drug gangs.

It was unclear whether the two sets of slayings were related.
