GreenTech Automotive to bring 2,000 JAC BEVs from China for US market

China automaker JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Co) will sign a cooperation agreement on the export of 2,000 battery electric vehicles with US-based GreenTech Automotive Corp. (GTA) to develop the US electric vehicle market.

In February 2013, a sample EV was sent to the US for testing and performance inspections. JAC?s third-generation electric vehicles have overall upgraded driver modules and improved total battery energy, range, maximum speed, acceleration, climbing performance and operation stability.

Compared with the second generation, the third generation integrates the functions of braking energy recovery and remote monitoring, JAC said. The braking energy recovery function can convert the kinetic energy produced in braking, acceleration and sliding down slopes to electric energy to increase the distance per charge by 5% to 10%.

The battery capacity of the third generation is increased from 15 kWh to 19 kWh and the driving range per charge on urban roads is increased by 30% from 100 km (62 miles) to 130 km (81 miles).

JAC is a full-line independent automaker in China, producing light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, MPV, SRV, sedans, bus chassis, buses, engineering machinery, engines, gearboxes and other key components. After more than 40 years of development, JAC has achieved an annual production capacity of more than 700,000 vehicles and 500,000 engines, and is ranked in the top 10 in the Chinese auto industry.
